Chelsea Marr

Artist Statement

I like to create images that intrigue people and make them look closer, or think deeper. I love contrast and balance, mystery and humor, a touch of feminine dignity, rawness, and overall emotion. I like being resourceful and not wasting which is where the use of interesting found papers happens in my pieces. I love playing with a mistake until it works, and often it is better than the original plan. I work in a variety of mediums and styles, utilizing mixed media drawing, paintings, and portraits. When I am working on a piece, I'm always on the lookout for the moment when everything starts to speak to each other and intrinsically comes together.
