Jonathan Green

Artist Statement

My work is an exploration of the human body and identity. I exercise a clinical gaze as I render the figure because I am interested in physical material as truth and how the brain shapes the self. I am impressed equally by the beauty of the human form as well as the frailty and complexities of the viscera underneath. My work is meant to interrupt the virtual self that we project by confronting our own physical being.
