Artist Statement

I live and work in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a small Indian village that became known as “the Oil Capital of the World”, at the beginning of the 20th century following the discovery of great deposits of oil beneath the surrounding area.

Over the past six years I have been photographing the city from my car; working from a vehicle provides me with the mobility to connect with a larger portion of the cities terrain and to view my surroundings from the perspective of a traveler; a traveller exploring the present and the past. I attempt to render a glimpse into what is absent from what is present and to acknowledge what is present from what is absent.
