Working alongside OVAC staff, interns are exposed to the daily management of an artist service organization and gain access to the people, events and resources of the state’s arts community and OVAC. Interns assist in OVAC’s daily operation, carrying out administrative, technical and research duties, as well as special projects. Today, we feature our fall 2015 intern Jasmine Jones. OVAC is accepting applications for 2016 spring internships through December 31, 2015.

Jasmine Jones is a student at Rose State College in fine arts. Jasmine has been involed at OVAC as a volunteer since 2014, often working as a volunteer photographer at events, including 12×12 and Momentum OKC. In the fall of 2015, Jasmine joined the OVAC team as an intern, taking photographs for Artist INC. There, Jasmine documented the class, and was able to sit in on the sessions and learn about the business of art through the 8 week intensive training. Jasmine will graduate with her Associates in Art in the spring of 2016, and will then pursue her bachelor’s in fine art.

“I loved Artist INC, it was so incredible,” says Jones of her internship, “Not only did I get to build up on photographing events, but I got to meet and learn from amazing artists and others interlinked with the art community. I saw doors open for me as well as other artists. I’ve said it before, it was inspiring and I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to work as an intern. Thank you so much for taking me as an intern! Artist INC was an experience I’ll never forget.”
