1515 Lincoln Gallery is pleased to announce its latest exhibition, “Visions of Courage,” featuring nature-inspired paintings by Ukrainian artists Daniel Green and Yulaiyla Grays Larru. These artists explore humanity and nature through bold, color-infused paintings that depict a variety of flora and fauna. Their art is a testament to the courageous act of being an artist amidst war and instability. From Yulaiyla’s energetic paintings of exotic animals in motion to Daniel’s vivid depictions of Ukraine's beautiful countryside with horses and their human companions, this exhibition is a visual feast sure to inspire visitors.

We invite you to join us for the gallery's opening reception with the artists on Thursday, July 18, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Both artists will be in attendance. Delve deeper into their work and processes by attending their Artist Talk on Saturday, July 20, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. The exhibition will be on view and open to the public until Saturday, August 31. Proceeds from sales will benefit Ukranian relief efforts as well as an orphanage and school in Nairobi, founded by Daniel Green.

Daniel Green, widely known for his politically inspired artwork across Ukraine, is showcasing a diverse collection of paintings featuring vast fields of golden wheat, vibrant wildflower patches, and scenes of horses living alongside humans. His enchanting scenes, rich with color and texture, invite viewers to contemplate the mysteries of nature and the limitless possibilities beyond the expected. Horses, common in Green’s work, symbolize strength and grace, highlighting the symbiotic relationship between humans and animals and the eternal connection between humanity and the earth.

Yulaiyla Grays Larru’s paintings depict a wide variety of animals, including cheetahs, geese, zebras, deer, hippos, and more, all created on faux suede canvas. Her exploration of materials led her to faux suede out of reverence for animals. In her work, she strives to convey deep emotions and the beauty of the surrounding world. Through her colorful depictions of the natural world, she reveals the uniqueness of each moment, inspiring viewers to discover new perspectives and emotional experiences. Her work goes beyond observational scenes of animals; they are deep explorations of humanity, resilience, and joy, with each painting embodying layers of personal meaning and contemplating the elusive beauty of life.

The war and current conflict in Ukraine have had lasting effects on these artists, their families, friends, and fellow Ukrainians. In a region experiencing immense chaos and destruction, these artists demonstrate the courageous act of creating art in such challenging times. Their work is a reminder of the beauty and hope that persist even in turmoil. Their visions of courage take us on a journey rich with humanity’s enduring creative spirit.
