Brief Artist Bio

Vicky Watson is a Cherokee Nation beadwork artist from Mustang, Oklahoma. Known by her Cherokee name, Kamama, she began learning beadwork in her seventies in 2022 and creates historical portrait beadwork honoring Native American histories.

Brief Artist Statement

My beadwork portraits honor Native American people and histories connected to Oklahoma and Indian Territory. Through thousands of carefully placed beads, I translate historical images into beadwork, preserving cultural memory.
