Grow and develop Oklahoma's visual Arts community through education, promotion, connection, and funding.
The Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition (OVAC) helps artists realize their potential through education, promotion, connection, and funding. Founded in 1988, OVAC is a non-profit organization that supports visual artists living and working in Oklahoma, while promoting public interest in the arts and helping people of all ages understand the visual arts.
WHAT WE DO
To support artists on the business side of their practice, we offer educational opportunities through our ASK Program. Additionally, we offer opportunities for artists to show their work through OVAC Exhibitions and our Virtual Artist Gallery. We give funding to artists through our Grants for Artists and THRIVE Grants. We also provide artists access to helpful resources like Grant Writing Tips, Pricing Your Artwork and much more!
Through our exhibitions and our publication Art Focus magazine, we connect the community to the visual arts in our state. Additionally Art Crit Night and Tulsa Art Studio Tour provide ways for the community to meet local artists and learn about their work. We keep an a seat at the community table by producing Art News Oklahoma, our monthly E-Newsletter featuring Oklahom art events, artist opportunities and the latest art news across the state!.
We love growing symbiotic relationships with other organziations that align with our creative mission. We have a strong network of organizational supporters we like to call Friends of OVAC who collaborate with us through many of our programs and projects. Along with this, we have our higher tier Patron and Collector Memberships that offer between four and ten Individual Memberships to share, the option to become an Art Focus Distribution Hub, and much more!
Alongside each of our exhibitions, we create free, downloadable Education Guides and video tutorials in collaboration with local visual artists that teachers and parents can use with their students. Many educators also use our publication Art Focus in their classrooms and recommend their students to attend our ASK Workshops and Panels.
