12x12 Art Fundraiser

Written by OVAC Intern Lauren Rosenfelt.
Today we feature the work of our 12×12 Art Fundraiser Artist Elyse Bogart

A member of the Society of North American Goldsmiths, Elyse has taught Jewelry making classes at the Firehouse Art Center in Norman since 1982.  She has also taught as an adjunct at the University of Oklahoma School of Art, College of Liberal Studies, and School of Human Development.

How has teaching influenced your art?

Teaching has reinforced the fact that I never know as much as I think I do, and that I need to work more efficiently.

What gives you the inspiration you need to create art?

The compulsion to work with my hands and translate what I see and think about into something tangible.

How did you decide what art field you were interested in?

I have always been interested in all of it– drawing, painting, hammering, sawing, playing with fire; to me it’s all the same.  I just happened to be better at creating small-scale objects than anything else.
