+ Bio
Kristin Hoover Gentry is a 2S Choctaw artist, curator, and writer based in Oklahoma City, serving as the 2025 Momentum Curator for the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition (OVAC). A former Momentum artist in her twenties and the Emerging Curator for Momentum in 2021, she brings both lived experience and deep curatorial insight to the program. Kristin works full-time as an artist, writer, and curator, and currently serves as the Curatorial Director at Culture Hub Arts Institute. She is widely recognized for her independent curatorial work, most notably the celebrated exhibition Indigenous Gender Identity (2020–2022), which explored the intersection of queerness, Two-Spirit identities, and Indigenous culture. In 2021 and 2022 she was part of the opening efforts at First Americans Museum, curating Indigenous artists for the FAMstore to elevate Oklahoma Native-made work within a major institutional retail and cultural space. She is the creator of the Jacobson House NDN Art Rally, now an annual event co-curated with artist Brent Greenwood, celebrating contemporary Native art through an accessible, community-centered platform. Kristin serves on the Board of Directors for the Jacobson House Native Art Center and has also served on the boards of the Southeastern Indian Artists Association and the Tulsa Artists Coalition. Her contributions to the arts extend to arts writing and arts advocacy. She has been a fine arts writer for OVAC’s Art Focus magazine since 2009 and an Indigenous Fine Arts writer for Native American Art Magazine since 2021. She has juried and judged numerous exhibitions across Oklahoma and the region, consistently advocating for Indigenous, emerging, and underrepresented artists. Kristin has received multiple artist grants and awards from OVAC and other organizations for her artistic and curatorial achievements. She lives in Oklahoma City with her daughter, Jewell Shooting Star, and serves as the Chair of the OKCPS Native American Student Services Parent Committee, where she supports Native youth and families through education, representation, and cultural programming. | The Guest Curator and Emerging Curator work together to select the Survey artists and Spotlight Artists for MOMENTUM.
