The Howell Gallery is pleased to announce "Around Town, OKC," an exhibition of paintings by Oklahoma City native, Mary Anna Goetz, celebrating life in her hometown. The exhibition opens Thursday, October 23rd at the gallery, located at 6432 North Western Avenue.

This is the first time the gallery has presented a show comprised entirely of OKC subjects. Goetz visited iconic locations throughout the city—from Scissortail Park and the Skydance Bridge, to Bricktown, the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, and downtown landmarks—to create a comprehensive portrait of contemporary Oklahoma City life.

"After more than 20 years representing Mary Anna's work, we're thrilled to feature a collection that celebrates her deep connection to her hometown," said gallery director Laura Howell Tirrell.

The exhibition includes paintings of cultural landmarks such as the First National Building, the Victoria Building, and the Will Rogers Event Center, as well as intimate scenes from favorite local gathering places and neighborhoods. Goetz also features OCU, her alma mater, and personal favorites like the iconic Milk Bottle on Classen Boulevard.

Goetz was born in Oklahoma City in 1946. Before settling in Woodstock, New York, she developed her artistic practice through her studies at OCU. Her parents, Richard and Edith Goetz, were respected painters and teachers in the Oklahoma City art community.
