Calling Home began as a series of photographs documenting the last time Allison visited the house where she and her little sister grew up, a home that had also held her mother and two aunts years before them. After the sale of the house and her immediate family’s move across the country while she remained in Oklahoma, Allison found herself questioning what home meant to her: was it a place or the people who made up that space?

Using photo albums and dirt from these physical spaces, Calling Home explores the ways home can exist simultaneously as a physical place, a collection of memories, and a connection to the people and land we carry with us.
